Cabinet at its meeting today yesterday has approved the repatriation flights to Guangzhou in China and to Manila in the Philippines.

RSIPF Meets With Council of Chiefs on Mono Island

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Deputy Commissioner Operations Juanita Matanga has met with the Council of Chiefs on Mono Island in the Western Province on 25 August 2020 to discuss the issue of access to islands for police operations at the western border during the COVID-19 State of Public Emergency.
Western, Choiseul and Malaita Outer Islands borders have already been declared as emergency zones with a total ban on traditional border crossings to and from Bougainville.

Leaders of Shortland Islands in the Western Province have encouraged landowning tribes in the area to support the frontline workers in view of the ongoing covid-19 operations at the border region.

Officers at the Atori Police Station in Malaita Province have arrested a 24-year-old male suspect following the alleged rape of a 17-year-old female at Hale Village in East Kwara’ae on 25 July 2020.
Police says the purpose of the awareness is to advice and encourage the teachers and students on ways to look after their school and welfare.

Police Reach Out to Students at Burns Creek

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) visited and conducted awareness talk at Burns creek Adventist High School and primary school and Tuvaruhu School in Honiara on 21 August 2020.
“The returning nationals are mostly students who have just completed their studies in Samoan institutions,” the statement from the NDC says.

Charter Flight Arrives With 24 Nationals

A total of 24 nationals have arrived at the Henderson International Airport this evening 6:00 PM local time on board a Solomon Airlines chartered flight.
“I understand that some people in the western border region of the country are worried after the confirmation of a positive COVID-19 at Buka on Bougainville two weeks ago. The RSIPF has increased its man power at the western border to 74 officers and will increase the patrols in the western border red line,” says Commissioner Mangau.

Police Raids Kwaso Producers in West Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Honiara City Central Police Station mounted a successful raid at the Karaina settlement in West Honiara confiscating 2,000 litres of kwaso valued about $10,000.00 on 13 August 2020.
The government says they will advise intending travellers into Solomon Islands on the future date of repatriation flights, most likely set for the coming weeks. At the same time, it is understood the proposed flight to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on the 29th of August 2020 has been put on halt.
