The privacy of your personal information is important to SolomonTimes.com (STO). Read here what kind of information we are collecting and how we are using them.

Collection of Information

STO is collecting different information while you are surfing SolomonTimes.com. This includes:

Use of information

STO is collecting information for the following reasons:

Comments from our Facebook page

Every article we publish is also posted on our Facebook page, facebook.com/solomontimes. Readers comment there, and we show those comments under the article on SolomonTimes.com so that readers of the website can follow the discussion. For this we read, through Meta's Pages API and with the permission of our own page, the public comments under our own posts:

We keep a copy of these comments for each article on our servers and show them exactly as posted, newest first, with the commenter's name. We do not show profile pictures, do not link to anybody's profile, and do not use the comments for anything else: not to build profiles of readers, not for advertising, and we do not pass them on to anyone. The copy is refreshed from Facebook: whatever is edited, deleted or hidden on Facebook is changed or removed on SolomonTimes.com within a minute, and by a daily check at the latest. Comments hidden by Facebook or by our page are never shown. Our page is moderated on Facebook, where Meta's own Privacy Policy applies to what you post there.

Removing or correcting your information

To remove a comment of yours from SolomonTimes.com, delete or hide it on Facebook — it disappears from the website with the next refresh. You can also write to support@solomontimes.com and we will remove it, as we will correct or delete any other personal information we hold about you when you ask.

Third parties

STO does not give third parties access your personal information unless:

SolomonTimes.com runs on Amazon Web Services, which hosts the website and the copies of the comments described above on our behalf.

Security

SolomonTimes.com is secured with both hardware (several firewalls, alarm systems) and software (password protection and encryption).
