Ete Attends Palm7 Summit

The Solomon Islands Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Douglas Ete is attending the Seventh Pacific Islands Leaders’ Summit (PALM7 Summit) in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan from May 22 - 23 .
Mrs Ethel Sigimanu, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Women, Youth and Children Affairs is one of the returning candidate.

Permanent Secretaries Appointed

The Solomon Islands Government has announced the names of nine Permanent Secretaries who have been appointed recently by the Public Service Commission, following consultations with the Prime Minister, on May 6th pursuant to section 128(1) of the Constitution.
Under the new Ports charges, ships berthing at the Point Cruz are now charged at Gross Cargo Tonnages and not according to their lengths.

Government Approves New Ports Charges

The Solomon Islands Minister of Finance and Treasury, Hon. Snyder Rini has approved a new levy of rates and dues for the Solomon Islands Ports Authority.

FAO to Establish Representative

The Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Hon. Augustine Auga Maeue and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Director General, Jose’ Graziano da Silva have signed an agreement to establish FAO representation for the Solomon Islands.

Government Attends World Education Forum

A Government delegation led by the Minister of Education, Honourable Dr. Derek Sikua is attending the World Education Forum (WEF) 2015 in Incheon, the Republic of Korea this week (from the 19 – 22 May 2015) at the invitation of the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
Hon. Maneka who was sworn in yesterday is now the new Minister of National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace (MNURP).

Reshuffled Ministers Sworn In

The two cabinet ministers who swapped portfolios in a minor reshuffle exercise by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare last week were sworn-in at Government House yesterday.
Hon David Day Pacha, will be taking up the Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification port folio.
