The National Police Open Day officially launched today at the Rove police headquarters ground in Honiara.Minister for Police and National Security, Hon. Issac Inoke, officially launched the two-day police event.
Set on the theme, "Together We Can Make A Difference", the two days will give members of the public the opportunity to watch displays and demonstrations by the Fire Service, Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team, Officer Safety Skills, Traffic Police, Accident Rescue.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Police Open Day, Mr. Inoke said the occasion is the first of its kind to be held at Police Headquarters in many years.
He said the event is a manifestation of the positive strides taken by the SIPF, with the support of the Participating Police Force (PPF) in bringing about improvement in the law and order situation in the country.
"There is much more ... that need to be done in the rebuilding of the Solomon Islands Police Force to enable the Force to bring about a safe and peaceful environment for communities not only in Honiara but throughout the country," Mr. Inoke said.
The two days will provide the opportunity for the communities to know more and understand the work of the Solomon Islands Police Force, and it provides the opportunity for communities to join the police in the fight against crime.
Police will also have the opportunity to demonstrate its services and capability, and engage with the communities in an informal and enjoyable atmosphere.
