A zero tolerance operation is being organised in the Solomon Islands capital, Honiara by the police for the Christmas and New Years festive period.

The Zero Tolerance campaign will begin with a motorcade along the main road of the city tommorrow.

Various divisions of the police are working with the Police Youth Club/Bluelight Solomon Islands under the National Community Policing Unit in planning the operation.

The zero tolerance campaign will focus on personal responsibility as well as ensuring to keep the communities safe and free from crime during the festive season.

The campaign hopes to promote road safety, promote crime free festive season, improve relationship between young people as police and promote responsible alcohol drinking behaviour.

The campaign will highlight the importance of making the communities a safe place, free from crime during the festive season, so that everyone can enjoy the celebrations.

Police say whilst enjoying the celebrations, it is also important to ensure when using roads, road safety precautions must be considered at all times.
