Little known Esmie Ereoli of Solomon Islands, over the weekend, exchanged vows with Papua New Guinea's Governor General, Sir Michael Ogio in PNG's first ever state wedding.

Esmie of South Malaita was a former employer of Pacific Casino Hotel where she first met Sir Michael Ogio a few years ago.

Media reports from PNG stated that the event was a joyous occasion, witnessed by friends and family, mostly from Sir Michael's side of the family.

The quaint Saint Mary's Cathedral, in downtown Port Moresby came alive Saturday with praise and hymns, marking the wedding.

Archbishop Reverend John Ribat officiated the ceremony, as Sir Michael and Lady Esmie exchanged vows.

She was given away by her brother Walter, while her sister Helen was the bridesmaid. They were the only two, from her family in attendance.

Archbishop Ribat, told the newlyweds in order to have a fruitful marriage, they must draw strength from Christ, during their difficulties.
