Members of Parliament under the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) today, underwent screening for the risks of having Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), at the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

A team of medical practitioners from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services NCD division facilitated the screening program.

Led by Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare, other MPs who have had their health status checked include Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Maelanga, Caucus Chairman Hon. Namson Tran and Member of Parliament for East Makira Hon. Lilly Maefai.

The types of medical tests include blood sugar level, blood pressure and body mass index.

This is part of a newly introduced program to have all Government Officials take part in a monthly screening of the status of their personal health and risks of having NCDs.

The NCD screening today showed Prime Minister Sogavare as generally healthy and fit.
