Australia’s High Commissioner, Dr Lachlan Strahan, handed over 150,930 Pfizer vaccines in partnership with UNICEF and a new truck to the National Medical Stores yesterday.

Australia has now delivered more than 500,000 COVID vaccine doses (AstraZeneca and Pfizer) to Solomon Islands.

The new vehicle will boost COVID-19 response efforts by assisting with distribution of vaccines and critical medical supplies.

“As we experience the second wave and increasing case numbers, Australia is prioritising support to Solomon Islands to deliver its COVID-19 response activities.

“Today’s Pfizer doses will protect over 75,000 children aged 12 to 17 years with their primary course of vaccination,” a brief statement reads.

The delivery of the Pfizer vaccines was made possible by the partnership and collaboration between Australia, UNICEF and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
