Tourism Solomons said it is seeking clarification from the Immigration Department on several parts of the new Solomon Islands e-Visa system, which it said has created uncertainty for travellers, airlines and tourism partners.
In a statement issued on 22 September, the national tourist office said it acknowledges the government's move to a modernised, digital visa system and recognises the long-term benefits the change is intended to deliver for travellers, industry partners and border management.
At the same time, Tourism Solomons said the system is still in its early stages and that a number of practical details are yet to be clarified by the Immigration Department.
The office said it is seeking clarification on several components of the new process so that it can give accurate and consistent guidance to all visitors.
Once those details are confirmed, Tourism Solomons said it will pass them on immediately across its channels and directly to industry partners.
The statement said the priority is to ensure visitors feel supported and informed, and that the tourism sector can operate with confidence while the new system is being refined.
Tourism Solomons said the e-Visa application can be viewed on the Immigration Department website at immigration.gov.sb/visiting.
The statement was released by Mike Parker-Brown, public relations consultant for Tourism Solomons. It did not say which components of the process remain unclear, when the e-Visa system took effect, or which categories of traveller it applies to.
