An online employment portal for the Solomon Islands, LiuNomoa.com, was launched on the Internet today. The managers of the site, Nick Reese and Brett Chant, say that LiuNomoa.com is a free website for people to find work, or for employers to post positions vacant.

"We realised that with the possibility of Solomon Islanders being allowed to seek seasonal work in Australia, a website was essential for registering interested workers and for providing as much information as possible to Solomon Islanders about seasonal labouring and how it works" said Mr Reese.

"At first we were only going to focus on Australian seasonal work with the site, but we also recognised the immense value that this resource will hold for employers and job seekers to make contact for work in the Solomon Islands domestic labour market."

Users need to register to use the site, but this enables them to add their personal profiles and register interest for working in Australia, it enables them to apply directly for jobs, and allows employers to post positions vacant advertisements straight to the web site. When the seasonal worker scheme is launched in Australia, it will also allow interested workers to be contacted directly and advise them of the next steps they will need to take.

The site is easily accessible by employers and job seekers and all these services are free to registered users, available at www.liunomoa.com.
