The Solomon Islands Police are currently looking for a woman who escaped the police during an operation at the Verakusia Community behind West Kola Ridge early in the week.

The Acting Police Commissioner, Walter Kola, has called the lady, who is in her fourties to give herself up.

The lady escaped while the police searched her home seizing 60 litres of kwaso and various equipments that is used to brew the illegal drink.

Meanwhile, another 38 year old man who was arrested at the Kukum market last week for kwaso related offences is yet to appear in court.

He is the first offender to face trial under the Penalties Miscellaneous Amendment Act which carries a maximum penalty of thirty thousand dollars fine or six months imprisonment.

He was given a principal bail of twenty thousand dollars before being released.
