The National Consumer Price Index increased by 1.3 percent in August 2026 to stand at 136.6, according to a statement published on the Solomon Islands Government portal on 1 October 2026.

Measured against the same month of 2025, the national CPI was 2.5 percent higher over the year, the statement said.

Across the major expenditure groups, the statement said alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics climbed 10.2% from the previous month, while food and non-alcoholic beverages dropped 9%, transport dropped 5% and the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group edged up 0.1%.

Calculated on a three-month moving average basis, inflation in Solomon Islands stood at +3.7% in August 2026, the statement said, with the figure for imported items at 3.9% and for other (domestic) items at 3.5%. Underlying rates on the same basis ranged from +1.7% to +3.3%, it said.

For the provincial towns, headline inflation on the same basis was +4.0% in Honiara, -1.8% in Auki, +3.0% in Gizo and +4.2% in Noro, the statement said.

Month-on-month index changes were +1.7% in Honiara, -3.1% in Auki, -0.4% in Gizo and -0.4% in Noro, according to the statement. In Honiara, it said, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics rose 10.7%, food and non-alcoholic beverages fell 3%, transport fell 5% and the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group rose 0.1%.

In Auki the contributors listed were food and non-alcoholic beverages (-2%), alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (+1.5%) and transport (-8%), the statement said. For Gizo it listed food and non-alcoholic beverages (-9%), alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (+16.9%), clothing & footwear (-0%), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, up 0.6%, and furnishings, household equipment & routine household maintenance (-0.5%); and for Noro, food and non-alcoholic beverages (-5%), alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (-6%) and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, up 2.9%.
