Underwater Detectives use Sonar to find Munitions

A team of Royal Australian Navy clearance divers are working with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) on Guadalcanal during Operation Render Safe 16 to enhance the underwater clearance capability of the Solomon team.
Divers from the HMNZS Mamawanui, a diving support vessel, joined forces with the Canadian Defence Force's Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit to recover the bombs in an operation dubbed Operation Render Safe 2016.

More Australian Students to come to Solomon Islands in 2017

Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon Julie Bishop MP, and Australian Minister for Education and Training, Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, have announced that 82 Australian University students will come to Solomon Islands in 2017 under Australia’s prestigious New Colombo Plan.
Betikama and St Joseph’s Tenaru will debate whether adaptation is a better response to climate change than mitigation. St Nicholas College and Selwyn College will consider if small island states like Solomon Islands have a greater obligation to combat climate change than other countries.
