A student from the Solomon Islands studying in Fiji has handed over FJD$1700 to the Fiji Red Cross Society for those affected by Cyclone Winston.

The University of the South Pacific student, Randy Sugiyama Chite says this is just a small contribution to assist in the recovery operations of TC Winston.

Chite walked around Viti Levu to raise funds for those affected by TC Winston and raised a total of $1723.

While receiving the donation, Fiji Red Cross Society Operations Manager, Eseroma Ledua thanked Chite for the brave and unique initiative and for raising funds towards the Red Cross Appeal.

Ledua says Fiji Red Cross is also in the recovery phase of its operations.

Chite began his walk around Viti Levu on June 26th and finished on July 11th. He also assisted a total of 14,299 households and reached out to more than 71,495 people who were affected by Winston.
