The 'Win in Oceania' project will be implemented in 2009, SIFF President Martin Alufurai said.

Alufurai who returned at the weekend after he attended the OFC Executive meeting is excited about this US$8 million project.

He said all the Member Associations including Solomon Islands Football Federation will benefit greatly when the project is implemented.

The 'Win in Oceania' concept is similar to the one used in Africa and OFC is confident it will assist MAs to improve; their infrastructures and strengthen their administration; boost national competitions; Medical (Drug/ Physiotherapy); Competition for futsal/beach soccer; Grassroots programme and junior competitions.

FIFA President, Joseph Blatter announced the project during the OFC Extraordinary Conference in Noumea early this year.

"Win in Oceania will be a great success with the right infrastructure communication and leadership. It's a new development approach that we started two years ago with win in Africa with Africa.

"The project will follow the same format as that used in other confederations and countries from India to Central North America to the Caribbean and so on."
