Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare used his Christmas message address to encourage Solomon Islanders to preserve despite the hardships of 2020.
"Fellow citizens the year 2020 had not been an easy year, our economy had been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, our export earnings decreased, our revenue reduced.
"Yet we fought on, our resilient spirit preserved. It is our faith in the Lord that binds our diverse country."
Sogavare says that the Christmas message is one of great sacrifice, and in that spirit he acknowledges the work of all frontliners for their hard work and sacrifice in containing COVID-19 from spreading into communities.
He says that this is sacrifice and commitment to duty that we as a nation are all indebted to.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare says that it is important for citizens to enjoy the festive season in the true spirit of Christmas.
He says it is a time to reflect and give thanks to the source of great wisdom for protecting the country against the scourge of COVID-19.
Sogavare also acknowledged the help of donor partners in the fight against COVID-19, and for their continued support.
