Chairman of the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce (SICCI), Jeremy Bartlett has highly commended the PNG Prime Minister, James Marape.

Speaking at a luncheon hosted for the PNG delegation in Honiara Friday afternoon, Mr. Bartlett says to lead the biggest Melanesian country in the Pacific is not an easy task.

He said a lot of the young generations are quite awed by such an undertaking.

Putting politics aside, Bartlett said the PNG’s Prime Minister in leading the largest Melanesian country, has made an impact in the young generations of today.

He said however one thing remains true for each country.

“First and foremost we must continue to look within ourselves. First and foremost, we must help ourselves or be at a risk of remaining dependent”, Bartlett said.

Bartlett said there is no substitute for hard work. He said unfortunately no aid donor or quick funding solution will substitute what responsible leaders must do to secure a safe and prosperous future.

Bartlett thanked the PNG Prime Minister for the opportunity for them to interact with private business owners from Papua New Guinea.

The PNG Prime Minister was in Honiara on a three day State visit to Solomon Islands. Accompanying him were also members of the private sector and a number of his government ministers.
