Two Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers will travel to the United Kingdom on 25 September to take part in the International Leadership Programme run by the UK College of Policing, the British High Commission in Honiara said.
The officers are RSIPF Director of Close Personal Protection Aipo Kabwere and Provincial Police Commander Supervising for Western Province Wilken Miriki. The programme runs for one month.
According to the media release, the programme is part of the UK-supported Pacific Policing Leadership Programme, which aims to develop police leaders in the region through leadership training and international exchanges.
The high commission said Solomon Islands is one of the programme's principal beneficiaries. Eight RSIPF officers, including the two named officers, have taken part in the International Leadership Programme so far.
The Pacific Policing Leadership Programme also includes emerging leaders training. Mid-level leadership development courses are planned for Honiara later in 2026.
Since it began, the programme has reached almost 400 police officers across the Pacific, according to the release. It is delivered by the UK College of Policing.
British High Commissioner Acting Cameron Millar met the two officers at the British High Commission on 24 September, before their departure.
"The UK is committed to partnering with Pacific Islands police forces to strengthen policing across the region by supporting the development of the leaders of tomorrow. The International Leadership Programme offers senior police officers a unique opportunity to build leadership capabilities while exploring the principles of legitimacy, consent, ethics and human rights that underpin effective policing," Millar said.
The high commission said the two countries continue to work together to support a police service that is professional and accountable and that contributes to regional security and stability.
The release did not say what the officers will study during the month or when they are due to return.
