UNDP Solomon Islands joined forces with BSP Financial Group Limited to open bank accounts for free for over 50 women in Guadalcanal province, encouraging more women and girls to gain financial independence.
Financial awareness and money management skills can lend women a deeper sense of security that makes it easier to save and invest in the future.
As part of this program, women also had a chance to better their knowledge of the importance of savings and digital banking as well as exchange their best practices of savings where appropriate.
The Enhancing Community Women’s Leadership through Financial Independence Initiative was organized by the Strengthening the Electoral Cycle in Solomon Islands Project (SECSIP).
SECSIP is implemented by UNDP Solomon Islands and has received financial assistance from the Australian High Commission, Solomon Islands.
