The Solomon Islands anti-corruption organisation, Transparency Solomon Islands (TSI), has elected a new Executive Officer, Mr Ellison Gauwane.

TSI welcomes Mr Gauwane and believes he is well equipped to continue the good work begun by former Executive Officer, Mrs Jean Tafoa, who completed her contract in early July.

Mr. Gauwane hails from the Malaita Province and has a strong background in the area of Finance and Development. He has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific (USP). Previously, he worked with the Development Bank of Solomon Islands and the Australian and New Zealand Banking Services as Risk Compliance Officer.

Mr. Gauwane is passionate about fighting corruption and this has motivated him to join TSI. Mr Gauwane stated that "corruption is prevalent in our country and undermines development. Thus, corruption must be weeded out in order for development to progress."

TSI is confident that the appointment of Mr Gauwane who joins a strong team of the TSI staff will enable TSI to deliver anti-corruption programs and activities in the coming months.
