The Solomon Islands Rugby Sevens team has set up a dream date with the King of Sevens Rugby, Fiji.

The Solomon Islands 7s rugby team have now qualified for the medal playoffs after qualifying in one of the tougher pools in the 7s rugby tournament in the Pacific Games in Apia.

The Solomon Islands 7s team started off their Pacific Games campaign against the World renowned Samoan 7s team. With the home crowd behind Samoa, the Solomon Islands team had to battle an obvious crowd favorite. Despite a gutsy performance from the team, the Solomon Islands conceded defeat, going down 39 - 0.

The second match was against 2003 South Pacific Games Silver Medalis,t Cook Islands. Despite the depth and experience of the Cook Islands team, the Solomon Islands came out winners with the closest of margin, winning 10 - 5. The win gave the Solomon Islands team a huge confidence booster.

The Solomon Islands went on to win their two remaining matches, beating Tokelau 22 - 0 and upstaging New Caledonia 19 - 10, putting them second in their pool behind Samoa.

The game today against Fiji will be a huge ask, but having come this far is a huge achievement, for which the boys should be congratulated.
