Honiara, 14 October 2015 - Solomon Airlines and Qantas Airways have today signed a new codeshare agreement which will deliver significant benefits for the growing numbers of customers travelling between Australia and Honiara.

From 15 November 2015, Qantas customers will be able travel on Solomon Airlines services from Brisbane and Sydney to Honiara, operated by its Airbus A320 aircaft.*

Qantas Executive Manager International Sales, Stephen Thompson said the new codeshare was great news for Qantas customers travelling to the Solomon Islands.

“We’re pleased to offer our customers the added benefits of a codeshare on five services per week from Australia to Honiara, a destination becoming more popular with both business and leisure travellers alike, with onward connections available to some of the region’s more untouched islands,” Mr Thompson said.

“This means more opportunities to earn frequent flyer points and status credits, and for the first time, we’ll be offering lounge access in Honiara for eligible customers.”

“The new codeshare builds on our broader partnership strategy which sees us work closely with other international carriers to increase our presence in growing markets and deliver more for our customers,” he added.

Solomon Airlines’ CEO, Captain Ron Sumsum said the airline was looking forward to welcoming more Qantas customers on board its flights from next month.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to boost tourism between the Solomon Islands and Australia, and we’re looking forward to seeing Honiara promoted to more Australians than ever before,” said Captain Sumsum.

The following codeshare services operated by Solomon Airlines’ A320 aircraft are available for booking from today, for travel from 15 November 2015:
