Solomon Breweries Limited (SolBrew) today signed up as the major sponsor for the 2022 Solomon Cup at a signing ceremony with the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) at the SolBrew head office in Honiara.
The ceremony was attended by SolBrew, SIFF, Provincial Football Associations’ representatives and the local media.
SolBrew Country Manager and Supply Chain Director Gilbert Rothmaier expressed SolBrew’s pride as Solomon Islands’ first and long time Brewer, in once again engaging as the major sponsor for the flagship national soccer tournament.
SolBrew’s Commercial Manager highlighted that historically SolBrew has been a sponsor for the Solomon Cup but in recent years have not been actively engaged, so signing up as a major sponsor for the 2022 Solomon Cup is resuming a partnership with SIFF that SolBrew looks forward rebuilding.
SIFF Vice President Marlon Houkarawa expressed SIFF’s appreciation of SolBrew’s sponsorship and SIFF’s interest in maintaining a partnership with SolBrew for the Solomon Cup beyond 2022.
The signing concluded with the official pool match draw conducted by SIFF Competition Director Gerald Oiaka, to determine the pool matches.
The Solomon Cup is a flagship soccer tournament that brings all provincial soccer teams together to compete on a national platform and provides an opportunity for provincial players to be showcased nationally.
The SolBrew Solomon Cup will officially open on Friday 25th with an opening Ceremony at the Lawson Tama Stadium with the first match set to kick of on Saturday 26th of November, 2022.
Selectors for the national squad preparing for the Pacific Games will be on the look out for hot talent at this tournament.
Solomon Breweries was established in 1993 is the brewer of local iconic brands SolBrew Lager, Canoe Classic and SB.
