Is it hip hop, lyrical, free style or fusion that’s your thing? Or is it a combination of dance forms like break or bboy? And break out with the occasional krump solo? Or is rock music, reggae, dancehall, afrobeat or afrofushion more your thing?

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism through Culture Division says it is organizing a music & dance event called "Pre-PG2023 Music and Dance Show" on 5th & 6th of November 2022 in Honiara.

The Theme of the Event is “Yumi Tugeda Singsing an Danis”

The event is part of the country's preparations towards hosting the XVII Pacific Games in 2023.

The Ministry says that the main objective of the event is to identify potential music and dance talents to take part in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Pacific Games 2023, as well as the cultural programme for the games.

Awards will be given to top music bands, music artists, vocalists, dancers and choreographers.

“Interested Music Bands and artists must be either be members of the Solomon Islands Music Federation (SIMF) or the Honiara Bands Association (HBA), or are well established and legally registered bands.

“In the category of dance, awards will be given for the contemporary dance category with fusion of traditional and creative choreography. An audition will be held for interested groups to determine participation in the event,” a prepared statement reads.

The Ministry says cultural groups will be given token of appreciation and their participation will be determined by the Culture Division based on the Cultural Groups registry at the Culture Office.

Interested persons or groups are encouraged to call the organizing committee via phone 27314 or 7277217 for more information.

Space is very limited so make contact now if you wish to participate in the event.
