Green light has been given to maintain the two teams that participated in the inaugural Telekom Wantok Cup.

"The [SIFF] executive fully supported the idea because it is in line with the purpose for which the competition was first initiated," the Solomon Islands Football Federation General Secretary, Eddie Ngava is quoted as stating.

Chairman of the Technical Committee and Malaita Football Association President, Derrick Taka took the matter to the SIFF executive for their endorsement and received their approval.

SIFF in a meeting Monday looked at pressing football issues including the Wantok Cup that took place in Honiara this month.

The football executive also endorsed Solympics participation in the Wantok Cup in Vanuatu.

Vanuatu Football Federation is yet to confirm hosting the event to coincide with its independence anniversary celebrations at the end of July.

It was revealed that an upcoming trip for the Solomon Bonito will take place September to Papua New Guinea to participate in their Wantok Cup competition on the occasion of their independence anniversary.
