A matter in dispute between staff of the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation, SIBC, and its Board of Directors has been referred to the Trade Disputes Panel.

Staffs of the national broadcaster have staged a sit-in-protest since this morning. The staff, represented by their in-house union is unhappy that the Board of Directors of the Corporation has not responded fairly to their demands, including a cease of all departmental managers' benefits.

The staffs are also demanding an independent investigation into how the finances of the Corporation had been handled.

Despite actions and responses by the Board, the staff felt the board had not dealt with their demands fairly.

The chairman of the Board of Directors, Shortlands MP Augustine Taneko referred the matter to the Trade Disputes Panel this morning.
