The Governor of the Central Bank of Solomon Islands, Rick Hou, told invited guest at the launching of the CBSI 2007 annual report that the launching will be his last.

"Some of you might recall that five years ago during a similar occasion as this, when I launched the CBSI 2002 Annual Report at the Honiara Hotel, I announced that it would be the final Annual Report I would deliver as my term of office was about to end," Mr. Hou said. "Fate determined otherwise and I have served for another five years. Today I can say with certainty that the 2007 Annual Report shall be my last one."

Earlier this year, rumors of the Governor resigning surfaced, the announcement has only but confirmed the rumors. However, talk of the Governor moving abroad to take up a job offer could not be confirmed at this stage. Our source said the Governor is thinking seriously about resigning and settling down although it will be quite likely that he will be sought for by other organizations.
