Investigators from Police Traffic Centre with the assistance of Police Forensic officers are investigating a hit and run incident at Ranadi near the Marine School which resulted in the death of a woman over the weekend.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning when the deceased was attempting to cross the main road when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle on the east bound lane.

Police Traffic officers and Police Forensic officers immediately attended the scene and conveyed the deceased to the National Referral Hospital but she was pronounced dead on arrival by medical authorities.

Police have charged a man in his 30's with a holding charge of causing death by dangerous driving. Police investigation continues and traffic officers are expecting to lay additional charges.

The suspect was bailed but is expected to appear at the Magistrate's Court on a later date.

Meanwhile, in another hit and run incident, the Guadalcanal Police with the assistance of the Police Traffic Centre are investigating the circumstances surrounding a hit and run accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon along the main road at the Tenaru area.

Tetere Police initially responded to the incident and officers confirmed two boys hit by the vehicle are age 11 and 13-year-old.

Police have spoken to witnesses and believes that the vehicle involved, a white taxi, was travelling west from Tenaru towards town when it hit the two young boys.

The two boys sustained serious body injuries and are currently treated and observed by medical authorities at the National Referral Hospital.

Police are urging members of the public who may have any information in relation to the incident to come forward and report it to the police.
