Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Henderson Police Station have arrested a 20 year-old girl on 25 February 2020 following the discovery of the dead body of an infant baby buried in the Henderson Plantation area.

Provincial Crime Investigation Officer (PCIO) at the Henderson Police Station Inspector Hughes Nevol says, “Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) were sent to the scene after receiving information from public that a suspected grave was seen in the plantation area. Officers arrived and secured the scene waiting the Forensic team to arrive.

He adds: “The Forensic officers dug the suspected grave and discovered the dead body of a baby girl about eight months old. The body of the eight month old baby was taken to the National Referral Hospital for a possible autopsy.”

“My condolence for the death of this innocent child. May her soul rest in peace. “Says Inspector Nevol.

The suspect has been placed in custody awaiting dealings and possible charges to be laid against her.

“I appeal to people in and around the Henderson area to assist police at the Henderson Police Station with any information that may relate to the death of this innocent child,” says PCIO Nevol.
