Papua New Guinea prime minister Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare will make an official visit to Solomon Islands from the 12 to 14th of this month, October.

In Honiara, Sir Michael will receive the Star of Solomon Islands award at an investiture ceremony by the governor general Frank Kabui.

Prime Minister Sikua will have bilateral talks with Sir Michael on a development cooperation agreement which covers PNG assistance to Solomon Islands in education and the country's chancery in Port Moresby.

Both leaders will also discuss border arrangements and security issues, trade and investment issues and RAMSI.

Sir Michael will use his time in Honiara to visit PNG investments in the country and to officially open the University of PNG Open Campus at the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education.

Solomon Islands is currently hosting a visit from the New Zealand Governor General Sir Anand Satyanand and Lady Anand.

Prime Minister Sikua says about 300 Japanese are coming to the country this month on a good will visit.
