Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare arrived in Buala, Isabel Province yesterday ahead of today’s 2nd Appointed Day celebrations.
Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was accorded with a traditional, unique and highly dignified welcome ceremony.
The Isabel Provincial Premier Hon Leslie Kikolo and his provincial executive were present to welcome the Prime Minister.
Hundreds of people in Buala and the surrounding communities were also there to welcome the Prime Minister.
In his brief welcome remarks, Deputy Premier Tony Vahia thanked the Almighty for the safe arrival of the Prime Minister and his delegation.
Prime Minister Sogavare in response said he is honoured to be part of the celebrations.
“Thank you for the warm welcome,” he said.
The Prime Minister will be the guest of honour during the celebrations that will be held at the Provincial Assembly area in Buala today.
The Prime Minister’s delegation includes the Provincial Government Minister Hon. Rollen Seleso, Minister for Foreign Affairs & MP for Hograno/Kia/Havulei Hon Jeremiah Manele, Health Minister & MP for Maringe/Kokota Dr Culwick Togamana and Minister for Traditional Governance & MP for Gao Bugotu Hon Samuel Manetoali, MP for North East Guadalcanal Hon Ethel Vokia and senior government officials.
Prime Minister Sogavare and his delegation will return to Honiara on Friday this week.
The Prime Minister will also attend the Temotu 2nd Appointed Day celebrations next week in Lata.
