Trial into the election petition case against West Honiara MP, Namson Tran has been postponed to a possible date next year.

The trial was set to proceed this morning but Justice Edwin Chetwynd adjourned the case after taking into account the high number of witnesses against the availability of time.

A total of 14 witnesses were to testify for the claimant Isaac Inoke and 18 for Mr Tran.

Justice Chetwynd decided that the trial be on notice at the High Court's registry office until it is re-listed for next year.

Former West Honiara M-P Inoke launched the petition against Mr Tran after the National General Elections last year which Tran won with a landslide victory.
