The Minister of Finance, the Hon. Gordon Darcy Lilo, officially launched the Ministry of Finance and Treasury's (MOFT) website today (www.mof.gov.sb).

"The new site is a significant advance in transparency for Solomon Islands Government financial management, with information publicly available on the financial and economic performance of the Solomon Islands and details of the annual Budget and funds approved by Parliament." Mr Lilo said.

"At a more day to day level the website has been designed to provide information on the responsibilities of the Ministry and what this means for how the Ministry works with the people and businesses of the Solomon Islands. Forms and guidelines are available to assist people, including understanding their obligations in relation to taxation and customs duties, and how they are to meet those obligations."

"The website will also be of great assistance to Ministries, and includes financial management guidance such as the financial instructions and publications like the monthly financial results and budget documents."

The website has been designed by the staff of the Ministry's Treasury Division, working in partnership with their RAMSI advisors, to make sure the design meets the needs of its users. The website was funded through the RAMSI program to strengthen financial management.

"Members of the public, businesses, donors and line ministries will now be able to access much of the information and many of the forms they need online simply by accessing the new MOFT website. The Government is very pleased with the new website. It offers users with access a great resource for the people and businesses of the Solomon Islands."
