The delegation of Solomon Islands Ministers' wives led by Madame Emmy Sogavare currently visiting Taiwan, received a donation of US$5,000.00 towards its charity mission in Solomon Islands.

The President of Taiwan's National Women's league handed over the money to the Solomon Islands women when they visited the organization's headquarters last week.

During the visit, the Madame Sogavare and her delegation learnt about the organization founded by the wife of the late first President of Taiwan.

Madame Sogavare and wives of other Ministers' in the Grand Coalition for Change Government had made charity outreaches to the tsunami stricken areas in the Western and Choiseul Provinces and flood-hit areas in the Guadalcanal Plains this year.

They donated bales of clothing and eating and cooking utensils to the thousands left homeless in the wake of the unprecedented natural disaster as well as the flood victims.

Meanwhile, the Solomon Islands delegation of Ministers' wives also visited a Buddhist hospital in the Taiwanese city of Hue-lian and as well, attended a protocol lecture at a Foreign Service Institute in Taipei.

The hospital-the biggest in Taiwan - was started with charity donations and it operates through the service of volunteer doctors and staff.

It sends out its doctors and medical workers to disaster affected areas across the world and Solomon Islands had benefited from that volunteer medical assistance after being struck by the April 2 tsunami.

Madame Sogavare and her delegation are expected back in the country this Friday.

Their trip to Taiwan is funded by the Taiwanese government.
