The Livelihood Sector Committee (LSC) within the Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock (MAL) is looking for volunteers to support with food distribution today.

LSC issued the appeal as they prepare for a massive roll out of food supplies to communities in the declared Emergency Zone in Honiara.

The LSC says for those that are prepared to volunteer in this important work to do the following.

Call 7363547 and 7459082 or either inbox via the MAL official facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/agriculturesolomonislands) and pass on the following details;

  • Name
  • Place of residence
  • Vaccination card number
  • Contact mobile number

The LSC says rapid testing will be done at MAL office today morning, but reiterates that a key eligibility to join the distribution team is you must be fully vaccinated and have a negative test result.

Transport for pick-up and drop-off will be provided with arrangement to be made by MAL team using phone contacts provided. MAL will also organise exemptions for volunteers.

MAL/LSC reminds those interetsed that selection will be based on the following requirements:

  • A person is fully vaccinated.
  • Tested negative during the rapid testing which MAL will be organising at MAL HQ today morning.

The Ministry also advises people to bring along with them their vaccination cards.
