Top Solomon Islands tennis player, Michael Leong bowed out of the 29th Commonwealth Games in New Delhi gracefully knowing that he has done his country proud.

PACNEWS reports that the South Pacific gold medalist lost to his English opponent James Ward 6-1, 6-1.

The 24-year old said despite the loss, he was confident that he played his best for his country.

Mr Leong says his opponent was just too strong for him, but he played a good game.

Solomon Islands Olympic Committee chief executive officer, Atu Balekana was pleased with Leong's performance.

He told PACNEWS that Mr Leong played with a top seed player and he did well.
