Direct employees of Honiara City Council are planning to hold a 28 day strike notice.

The decision came about due to non-payment of extras payment and outstanding unpaid leave by the Honiara City Council.

Listening to their complaints at the Solomon Islands National Union of Workers office, the Union yesterday heard that whilst three quarter had already received full payment, the rest of the workers are still waiting.

They told the SINUW General Secretary, Tony Kagovai that they have waited long enough for their payment and it is now time to take some action.

Another meeting today will decide whether or not to take action, according to Charles Adifaka the speaker of the meeting who urged all direct employees of the city council to attend to get a mandate from them.

Solomon Times gathered that the meeting will decide on the issue of a 28-day strike.
