Guadalcanal province has revealed its plan to build its new provincial centre and headquarters at Doma, just west of the capital, Honiara.
Guadalcanal Premier Stephen Panga says reports on the Doma Development Project and a Pre-Feasibility Study estimated that the project would cost around USD$105 million.Unlike the country's eight other provinces, Guadalcanal, which hosts the national capital, does not have a provincial centre of its own.
In handing over the reports to Prime Minister Danny Philip this week, the premier said Guadalcanal needs a town of its own and all the necessities that come with it.
Mr Panga says his province needs its own centre, apart from the national capital, Honiara.
