The 2009 Supplementary Appropriation Bill 2009 of about 80 million dollars is necessary in light of the current uncertain economic situation as a result of the global financial crisis.

Finance and Treasury Minister Snyder Rini made the comment when he tabled the bill in it's second reading in parliament yesterday.

Mr Rini says the government is seeking parliament's approval for the supplementary so that all government policies, programs and commitments can be delivered.

The Finance minister says the main focus of the package is a number of expenditure control measures, aimed at addressing a projected shortfall in the budget in the current financial year.
