National athletes will now have full training access to an international certified court floor that functions as a multipurpose space at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) High-Performance.

Indonesian contractor WIKA Project Manager Eigya Bassita confirmed that level checking, repairing, outset line marking and installations of the high-end multifunctional Pulastic sports floor had been completed this week.

“We have finished all required works and handed them over to SINIS this week,” Bassita confirms.

He highlighted that the mark linings of the court cater for Futsal, Volleyball, Netball, Basketball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Badminton and two athletics running tracks.

“This is a pulastic combi flooring, a perfect combination of a resilient wood subfloor system with the strength and flexibility of a Pulastic surface. It is specifically for sports and it is certified for each sport to have access to the indoor court.

The pulastic court flooring installed is internationally qualified by FIVB, FIBA, BWF and ITF.

“We did all the installation already and we train some of the SINIS facility staff on how well to use this pulastic surface - what to do and what not to do.

"The floor will provide outstanding comfort, safety for training and competition combined with excellent long-term resilience for comfort and injury prevention, and materials purchased are ordered from the Netherlands,” says Bassita.

SINIS has purchased sports equipment to cater for all of those sports to allow national squads access to the best quality indoor court in the country. The indoor court has also been designed with an industrial ceiling and wall fans to accommodate the heat.

With high-level lighting, the court can be used for up to 16 hours a day
The investment made by the Solomon Islands Government will see that for the first time, indoor court sports will have access to essential training facilities they need to prepare for international competitions.
