Today at the Ministry of Public Service was the signing of a contract between the Ministry of Public Service and Ministry of Infrastructure together with the Kramer Construction Company.

Speaking with Solomon Times Mr. Ishmael Avui, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Public Service stated that the budget for this year only covers the concept and architectural design, worth at least SBD$1 Million dollars.

He stated that next year they will open up bidding for actual construction with a price tag of at least SBD$12 Million dollars.

Ishmael Avui said that though expensive such an office will save the government a lot of money in the long run. "Currently we are paying close to SBD$200,000 per month for our current premises," said Mr. Avui. "It is time we build our own offices, other government ministries are also paying huge rental."

Speaking also during the signing ceremony was Mr. Rovaly Sike, Civil Project Engineer for Kramer, who stated that it is an honor to be part of a huge government initiative. "We hope to complete the project effectively, timely and within budget," said Mr. Sike.

Solomon Times was informed that the three story building will be built next to the Prime Minister's Office and will cater for the Ministry of Public Service and the Public Service Commission.
