The Solomon Islands Police Commissioner, Jahir Khan from Fiji, will soon leave the country as his contract officially ends Thursday this week.

However, Mr. Khan is reported to have offered to remain in the country should the government of Prime Minister Sikua needed him to stay on. Mr. Khan has also been tipped for a job with the United Nations if he chooses to leave Solomon Islands.

Mr Khan, currently in Vanuatu for a meeting of Police Commissioners from Melanesian Spearhead Group countries, is expected in the country tomorrow.

Mr Khan was recruited by the former Grand Coalition for Change Government of Manasseh Sogavare following the expulsion of former Commissioner, Australian Shane Castles by the then Sogavare-led government.
