The Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) is strongly advising the general public to avoid investing in a new pyramid scheme that is currently being promoted as “One Link Pacifica."
CBSI and the Solomon Islands Financial Intelligence Unit (SIFIU) are raising this warning due to the nature and quick expansion of the scheme in the country.
The warning is based on the information collected from various sources which conclude the nature of this business as clearly having operational elements that constitute a pyramid scheme structure.
Participants or promoters of the scheme will attempt to make money solely by recruiting new members to join and to invest their money.
New members of such schemes will pursue several more members to join, either by word of mouth, emails or through social media, and this will expose the public to high risks, of eventually losing their money, when the pyramid collapses.
CBSI would like to encourage the public to think first before investing in get-rich-quick schemes during this Christmas festive season, and to immediately contact officers from SIFIU for further advice or information.
