Samoa is playing host to the XIII South Pacific Games and thousands of athletes are participating from across the South Pacific including more than 300 athletes from the Solomon Islands.

Samoa is also playing host to Alice Domi, a villager from Paru Village, West Guadalcanal who was the major prize winner of a trip for two to see the Games live courtesy of ANZ.

Alice was in Honiara selling copra when she was approached by ANZ Staff and told of her good fortune. "It is indeed a blessing to win a once in a life time trip like this," said Alice.

Alice and her husband are now in Samoa and being treated as VIPs with passes to all of the South Pacific Games. "Thank you very much to ANZ to make this possible to have this opportunity to go to Samoa and watch the South Pacific Games. It will be our first trip overseas. Without ANZ we won't be going to Samoa," Alice said.

ANZ General Manager Tait Jenkin was excited to learn that one of the bank's rural customers had won the major prize. "ANZ is a proud Partner of the XIII South Pacific Games and it is terrific that one of our rural banking customers has won the major prize to go to Samoa to see the games live."

Alice and her husband will return to Honiara on 4th September and no doubt will have many exciting stories to tell their wantoks and friends in Paru Village.
