The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) President, Mr. Martin Alufurai wants the newly elected East Honiara member to recognize the importance of football.

Mr. Alufurai stated that football has brought alot of good things for the country, however, most people are not aware of it.

He told Solomon Times that SIFF has been involving many children and young people in soccer.

He stated that it is important for young people and children to engage their time with football, "when we organized the Under 17 soccer, children tend to spend their time at the SIFF Academy and they go straight home after their games," he added.

Mr. Alufurai emphasized that by engaging their time with such activities, they did not have the time to go out and become involved in criminal activies.

According to Alufurai, young people should be more involved in sporting activities than drugs and alcohol.

Since the SIFF Academy is located in East Honiara, Alufurai wants the new Member of Parliment to help in the development of young people's sporting skills.

In conclusion Alufurai stated that SIFF wants to use football as an instrument to rescue young people from bad behavior.
