Advocacy teams from the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission for the upcoming bye-elections in East Are Are and North Malaita Constituency are now back in Honiara after their awareness mission.

The awareness is being done ahead of the bye elections which is set to take place at the two constituencies on August 1st.

The Electoral Commission has confirmed that the awareness programmes for both constituencies went well.

The Commission also confirms that the number of polling stations for North Malaita Constituency remains the same as in the 2010 National General Election with the existing 21 polling stations.

However, in East Are Are Constituency, an additional polling station has been proposed and this will be confirmed when a section 33 notice has been published.

This should bring the total number of polling stations for East Are Are to 14.

By elections in both constituencies have become necessary after the two parliament members lost their seats last year.
