Solomon Airlines has announced that regular passenger flights both to and from Temotu Province will resume this week.
Effective from this Thursday 16 June, a new weekly service will operate from Honiara to Santa Cruz and Lomlom with flight times as follows: Flight IE394 will depart from Honiara at 11.25am arriving in Santa Cruz at 2.05pm the flight IE394 will then depart from Santa Cruz at 2.25pm arriving in Lomlom at 2.45pm. Returning flight IE395 will depart Lomlom at 3.05pm direct to Honiara arriving at 5.55pm.
The additional flight also means Santa Cruz will be served twice weekly from Honiara - a direct Tuesday service and the new Thursday service via Lomlom.
“We are pleased to reintroduce this service following advice that Temotu Provincial Health Authority will accept passengers in both directions, and in line with the National Guidelines,” said Brett Gebers, CEO of Solomon Airlines.
“Regular operations to Temotu Province have been implemented quickly following this confirmation as this has been long-awaited news, especially by our passengers in Honiara and Lomlom,” he said.
“As time progresses, we are seeing our operations gradually return, which is a relief in light of the many challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to our Provinces,” he added.
“Our priority is to operate safe, reliable air services that connect communities within the Solomon Islands and to connect Solomon Islands with the world. This is another step forward in our ability to achieve that for residents of and visitors to Temotu Province,” he said.
