In his new year's message to the nation, Sir Nathaniel Waena says this is important so as to institute discipline qualities in students.
The Governor General says the standard of student discipline in our secondary schools has seriously deteriorated.
"Student-discipline standard in our secondary schools has been noted with serious concern to have badly deteriorated. It would seem more apparent in terms of school "uniforms and good mannerism" with neatness. Schools ought to become the right places where our young citizens should be taught good personal-discipline, which must be introduced "through good school rules," the Governor General states.
Sir Nathaniel says schools are expected to proactively develop their students into responsible adults in life.

The Governor General says there is a need to effectively enforce disciplinary rules in secondary schools throughout the country.
