Papua New Guinea will soon establish a UPNG open campus in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

According to the Solomon Islands High Commissioner to PNG, Mr Bernard Bata'anisia, the open campus will be the first of any PNG-based university established outside of their country.

The Director of UPNG will be expected in Honiara around November.

The opening of the UPNG Open Campus shows the valuable contributions of PNG towards the Solomon Islands education sector.

Papua New Guinea has been helping Solomon Islands human resources development well before Solomon Islands gained its independence from Great Britain in 1978.
