Last night Solomon Islands weather office issued the first tropical cyclone warning for all provinces.
Harold with a central pressure of 999 hectopascals was located southeast of Rendova island in the western province at 9pm yesterday.
Last night most Honiara residents were taken by surprise and kept awake from strong winds caused by TC Harold.
Most of Honiara were in total blackout as power was disrupted from fallen trees and branches.
The National Referral Hospital was also said to be without electricity last night.
The weather office said gale force winds were up to 47 knots with maximum gust of 50 -55 knots over Western, Guadalcanal, Central, South Malaita, Makira and Rennell Bellona provinces.
Harold a Category one cyclone is moving towards Rennel and Bellona and gaining strength.
People are advised to take precautionary measures at this time.
